A taste of VoIP History.

People say VoIP was born in 1995 when some computer hobbyists in Israel experimented their first PC-to-PC voice communication.

In the very same year this technology was included in a software called "Internet Phone Software": a modem, a PC sound card, a microphone and headphones were needed to start a PC-to-PC call.

At the beginning voice quality was poor and not comparable with traditional phone calls, but technology improved very fast.

In 1998 new interconnection gateways were introduced enabling calls from PC to traditional phone lines.

Nowadays VoIP is becoming a big business either for traditional telephone operators and for brand new service providers with VoIP dedicated offers for consumers and business customers.
