VoIP is a technology which can be used over mobile phones as well.
In order to use VoIP on your mobile phone you need a broadband connection (ex. Wi-fi) which enables your mobile to access the Internet.
Mobile phones/Smartphone/PDA have to be equipped with 3G or superior connectivity or have to be able to connect to a Wi-fi Network. Eventually you need to download on your mobile a software client: many VoIP service providers (ex. Skype) offer their free software for mobile phones as well.
Once the Internet Connection is up and running from your mobile, you can place phone calls using VoIP technology in the very same way you do with a PC or a VoIP Phone.
Savings can be lower when you using VoIP from your Mobile: it depends on Mobile Internet connection costs which can be quite high depending on Mobile Operators fares. Recently new solutions allow you to use VoIP on any cells even without a broadband connection.
